Jo Hamilton

Words

A few years ago we already introduced Jo Hamilton´s art. Meanwhile the British artist continued to crochet and created large scale portraits of various people. In her work she uses a traditional basic crochet technique taught to her at an early age by her gran. In making the portraits she always begins in the middle with the eyes and work out from there until the piece is completed.

Hamilton works directly from photographs, using no sketches, graphs or computer imaging. Each piece is instinctively composed, handmade, labour-intensive. nothing is planned ahead.
