A 3D printed shelter for Hermit Crabs

Words

Hermit crabs can be somewhat picky if it comes to choosing a new home. Therefore Japanese artist, Aki Inomata, was even more delighted, when her pet hermit crabs decided to move into her 3D printed plastic shell shelters.

Thus Aki Inomata decided to design shells with architectural details ‘which imitate the architecture of various countries, appeared to be crossing various national borders. Though the body of the hermit crab is the same, according to the shell it is wearing, its appearance changes completely. It’s as if they were asking, ‘Who are you?”
