Paul Kaptein creates amazing wooden sculptures, exploring the notion of the now as a remix of past and future potentialities.
+ Read MoreBy sampling various cultural and temporal possibilities, Kaptein’s work is resulting in an expression of things not quite truth, yet not quite fiction. For him, carving wood is a perfect platform to explore these themes, as wood suggests past, present and future. “Its’ growth is dependant on the gaps in the universe – pushing through the soil, climbing into space – wood in itself seems to me a prime example of how material is made up of much negative space.”
