Positioned to overlook the Aosta Valley near the village of Vens, Italy, the ‘Casa Solare’ by Studio Albori is set 1,750 meters above sea level. The front of the building consists of an exposed weight-bearing frame made from locally sourced larch timber. The open frame allows the inhabitants to view from Monte Emilius to the massif of Gran Paradiso and Grivola. The house is self-sustaining, drawing energy from its solar panels on the roof, while the owners cook their meals on a wood burning stove on the ground floor.
