Artist Fiona Roberts creates sculptural body furnishings reflecting our relationship with our homes. Her series ‘Intimate Vestives’ features a chair made with dark hair, a curtain with open eyes as well as a carpet with fingers instead of fibres. The sculptures are almost all made of ceramic. This way, the often times unnoticed items of everyday life suddenly become the center of attention. “The house and the body are palimpsests of life events with their history inscribed into every surface. They are repositories of treasured moments, of everyday routines and memories, of growing up or growing old, of accidents, of habits, and of fear and trauma”, she says.
