For her latest series ‘L’Auberge‘, French photographer Estelle Lagarde created vanishing portraits with a surreal touch. All of the photographs were shot in the restaurant and rooms of the ‘Saint-Yrieix-le-Déjalat’ hotel in Corrèze. On the inspiration behind the project, Lagarde says: “That story began in spring 2012 when I went back to a small hotel and restaurant in a village in Corrèze, which was closed for several years. The characters took shape one after another, settled in these rooms, in the dining room, at the bar. Gradually, they were fixed on the silver film.” Recently, the series was published in a book.
