Oftentimes, we stumble upon artworks that stem from the same idea but have very different visual outcomes. That’s why we set up our ‘Two of a Kind‘ series – to see how two artists working with the same starting materials can transform them in their own unique way.
This time we gave a paint roller, bubble gum and some cotton pads to Montreal-based photographer Laurence Philomene and Russian graphic designer Luda Galchenko. See what they came up with below…

LAURENCE PHILOMENE
Montreal-based freelance photographer Laurence Philomene creates still lifes and images where the primary focus lies in the interaction between colors. The 22-year-old photographer uses her palette to explore themes related to youth, identity and femininity. For her ‘Two of a Kind’ contribution, Philomene developed a series of images predominantly playing with texture and the color pink in various scenes.

LUDA GALCHENKO
Luda Galchenko is a Moscow-based graphic designer and art director working with various brands. For her ‘Two of a Kind’ contribution, Galchenko deconstructed the materials and then created two playful sculptures resembling a layered wedding cake.
