Polish-born, London-based photographer Joanna Piotrowska carefully positions her subjects to explore the dynamics of human relationships. Her compositions show bodies stretched, contorted and overlapping in a range of positions, inviting the viewer to question the individuals’ relationships and states of mind. Piotrowska, who holds a Masters degree in photography, has been exhibited on high rotation throughout Europe, and was a joint recipient of the Jerwood/Photoworks Award 2015. Speaking about her creative focus, she says: “The human subject is everything – how a figure is embodied and conveyed through an image can affect us on multiple levels. My work raises questions about how we relate to one another and ourselves.”
