Iranian artist Mehdi Ghadyanloo paints dystopian scenes on the walls of Tehran’s buildings. Working with the city’s Beautification Bureau, an organisation dedicated to raising the profile of the arts in Tehran, Ghadyanloo’s portfolio of work comprises over 100 large-scale murals, which depict impossible scenarios in a surrealist style. Notable for their clean aesthetic, his works speak of uncertainty, anticipation and hope, offering the public a sense of escapism through imagined alternate realities.
