Since we’re always on the lookout for exciting projects from creatives, we recently launched a nifty submission tool so artists, photographers, architects and designers can upload their work through our site. Although not all submissions will be published, we do take the time to look at all of them.

‘IF YOU HAVE WINGS, WHY NOT FLY?’ BY COBY BAKER
For the series ‘If you have wings, why not fly?’, Melbourne-based photographer Coby Baker takes detailed photographs of the female body. Speaking of the inspiration behind it, he says: “The project engages with the premise that sexuality needs not to be a taboo, yet something to be celebrated, as it is a primitive function built into human nature.” See more photos here.

Based in Berlin, British designer Ewan Cashman creates playful interactive products, such as the ‘Pumpal Lamp’. Made of wood, the structure of the lamp also features a spinning concrete stand. Speaking of the inspiration behind it, the designer says: “Using nostalgia and familiarity to invite one to interact with the lamp, the entertaining spinning form becomes an object of functionality too. Through the lamps ability to rotate 360 degrees the user is able to control the type, quality and direction of light that fills the space.” See more photos here.

Irish artist David Smith is based in Hongkong, where he creates minimalist oil paintings. His artworks depict vast spaces, romanticism and environmental degradation. On the inspiration behind it, Smith says: “The images push noise against signal and create tension between a physical material state and the illusion of image. Aiming to be open ended, evasive and spare, they play with a desire for the mysterious and the elemental.” See more photos here.

‘CLARKS ORIGINALS DESIGN OFFICE’ BY ARRO STUDIO
Based in Paris, ARRO is a mulitdisciplinary studio, which has recently completed the new design space for footwear brand Clarks Originals. Located in a 300m2m warehouse, the studio’s aim for the structure was to strengthen creativity and exchanges through various zones that blend into each other. See more photos here.

‘MEMORIES FROM THE BODY’ BY MADDALENA ARCELLONI
Photographer Maddalena Arcelloni creates ethereal body portraits for the series ‘Memories from the body’ through multiple exposures. Says Arcelloni about the series: “Memory is generally defined as the ability of our mind to recall a particular moment in our lives. However, I always felt this concept was too restraining since I discovered that my body, too, was able to recall a specific impression through the stimulation of other senses.” See more photos here.

Design office Shift Architecture Urbanism created ‘Museumplein Limburg’, “the first design museum in the Netherlands”, located in Kerkade, a small town at the Dutch-German border. Recently, two geometric extensions were added to the Discovery Centre Continium and the museum can be accessed via the main road of Kerkade. See more photos here.
Orikomi products are geometric lightings inspired by Origami and made by Portuguese brand blaanc. Handmade in Lisbon, the designs feature the folding style of the Japanese technique. Using high quality paper, the pieces are eco-friendly and recyclable. See more photos here.

Photographer Sebastian Corvi creates images of striking body gestures for the series ‘For you’. In a statement about the series, he says: “The beginning of a new found relationship is a strange feeling. I became overwhelmed with happiness and hope, but at the same time was experiencing conflicting emotions of fragility and fear.” See more photos here.

Artist Carolina Amorim creates colorful artworks for the series ‘Nuances’. Using black and white photographs, the artist paints over the vintage images with watercolors. Says Amorim about the project: “Nuances is a project to present the body and its nuances in color.” See more photos here.

‘BATHERS’ BY PANAYIOTIS TENDES
For the series ‘Bathers’, Greek photographer Panayiotis Tendes captures photos of elderly people under water. Speaking of the idea behind it, Tendes says: “This favourite habit is my starting point for a new series of photographs that keep a limpid balance between the human body and the liquid state, while preserving the naivety and the carefreeness of the moment.” See more photos here.
