Italian photographer Claudia Corrent’s ‘Insulae’ series documents everyday life on the islands of Venice.
In pursuit of a fresh perspective on the visual topography of the city, Corrent swept a minimal, pastel-toned gaze over its lagoon and islands. Eschewing cliché, her focus on the small details and quiet moments of everyday Venetian life is far removed from the standard representations of the city’s tourist destinations. Corrent describes her working method as “casual, so as to favor an encounter with the reality of the place through its objects, people and artifacts.”
