Inspired by the natural spectacle of murmurations, Amsterdam-based studio Graypants created a light installation reminiscent of birds flocking together in various compositions.
“By composing light in this way, we create a powerful collection that’s poised to tip, always on the verge of instant transformation.”The site-specific artwork was first installed at Milan Design Week 2015 and is made of numerous pendant lights consisting of cardboard, which the studio refers to as ‘moa pendants’ and states: “Moa is an extinct wingless and flightless bird, belonging to the ancient forests of New Zealand.”
Furthermore, speaking about the idea behind the installation, the studio says: “By composing light in this way, we create a powerful collection that’s poised to tip, always on the verge of instant transformation.”
