Chinese architect Ma Yansong of MAD Architects designed the ‘Niku Rugs’, a set of meat-shaped woolen pads created for dogs as they transition from puppy to adult.
“Ma Yansong considers a hefty cut of Niku as the ultimate reward for the loyal labrador.”Conceived for Japanese graphic designer Kenya Hara’s “Architecture for Dogs” project, the Niku Rugs take their name from the Japanese for meat, mirroring the marbling textures found in a steak. Offered in three sizes, the rugs are built to accompany a dog’s growth throughout its life, cementing the bond between dog and family. A statement from the architects reads, “Ma Yansong considers a hefty cut of Niku as the ultimate reward for the loyal labrador.”
