An Ephemeral Lamp By FRONT

Swedish studio FRONT created an ephemeral light bulb that consists of a delicate bubble. The design for the ‘Surface Tension Lamp’ stems from the idea of creating a lamp with the most possible varieties of shades. Whenever a bubble bursts, another one is created, attached to the LED light. FRONT specializes in creating furniture designs and home accessories with a special twist. But while it lasts, it catches the light and reflects the room like a multi-coloured temporary structure. We wanted to create a constantly changing lamp that combines the most ephemeral of lampshades with an LED light source that will last for 50000 hours. In the time it takes the LED to burn out, the lamp will have had 3 million different globe shades.”
