Located in the lush Austrian countryside, ‘Weinblick’ (‘Wine view’) is a modern transformation of a wine tavern by architecture studio MARCH GUT, featuring a seating terrace as the roof for stunning views of the vineyard.
Now in its fourth generation, the structure of ‘Vineyard Franz Anton Mayer’ was renovated and a staircase linking the steps from the roof into the building was added, while the original wine cellar was kept in the building’s basement. According to the studio, the building materials, such as steel, cement and cluster pine, should reflect the production methods used on the vineyard. In a statement about the project, the architects say: “In our approach to the design of the wine tavern we focused on the themes of wine-tasting and lingering.”
