“I wanted to photograph the non-events that encircle the places where transgressive acts may have taken place.”Taken throughout the course of several road trips throughout rural Northern Ontario and British Columbia, Roy’s series – entitled ‘Northern Noir’- focusses on the sinister undertones of otherwise mundane details, depicting “non-events that encircle the places where transgressive acts may have taken place.” The photographs have been published in a book by Éditions la Pionnière, launching on 15 April 2016. Roy, who works predominantly as a fashion photographer for the likes of Vogue and Numéro, has received numerous awards.
