New York-based interactive designer Anton Repponen drew upon his architectural background in creation of his ongoing ‘Misplaced’ series, in which eleven iconic New York City structures are digitally strewn across the globe.
“Did they act of their own volition? Was there foul play involved? What does it all mean?”Appearing on sand dunes, rocky beaches, mud flats and grassy planes, the misplaced landmarks evoke intrigue and contemplation on the significance of context in architecture. Repponen, who started the series on his Instagram account and has since created a fully interactive website for it – encourages the mystery surrounding the project, stating, “Nobody knows exactly what happened or why. Did they act of their own volition? Was there foul play involved? What does it all mean?”
