For his project ‘Fragments Of Justice’, Italian photographer Luca Sironi took a series of images inside courthouses throughout Italy.
“These spaces are transformed every day into a stage on which a routine of tragedies and controversies is held.” The images capture the empty courtrooms that seem to be frozen in time, with objects from court hearings still in the frame, such as a judge’s coat or a brimming folder. In a statement about the project, Sironi says: “We can find the opportunity to think about the importance and sensitivity of the events that take place here. These spaces are transformed every day into a stage on which a routine of tragedies and controversies is held.” Based in Milan, Sironi focuses on exploring the connection between place and memory in his photography.
