Located on the outskirts of Porto, the ‘MR House’ is a sleek box-shaped family home designed by local architecture practice 236 Arquitectos.
“Conceptually, we tried to develop the idea of a volume that resulted from the addition of several independent casings.” Surrounded by lush greenery, the two-story structure was designed to create a unique indoor-outdoor experience. The white volume consists of various boxes with floor-to-ceiling windows, each one with a different function. Additionally, the ground floor offers access to an expansive pool in the garden.
Speaking of the idea behind the concept, the architects say: “Conceptually, we tried to develop the idea of a volume that resulted from the addition of several independent casings. Each of these enclosures (living spaces) was treated individually, according to their characteristics and needs, particularly as concerns the orientation, openings and proportions.”
