London-based architecture practice Studio Seilern worked with Muzia Sforza to designed the Gota Dam House in a secret location in East Africa.
“The area is, to say the least, breathtaking and awe-inspiring, and deserved a piece of architecture that is equally awe-inspiring.”Perched on a large rock overlooking the man-made Gota Dam, the house was completed in 2012 as both a home and a recording studio for musicians offers spectacular views of the surrounding Forrester estate. Situated between two cantilevered timber-clad panels that serve as a terrace and roof, the residence comprises a pool, patio, library and piano room.”The area is, to say the least, breathtaking and awe-inspiring, and deserved a piece of architecture that is equally awe-inspiring,” said the architects in a recent interview. Gota Dam Residence: House on a Rock won the Royal Institute of British Architects’ international award in 2013.
