A Shelter In The Woods

For those who are tired of the hustle and bustle of city life, we are delighted to introduce you to the Corbett Residence, a minimal black house hidden between the trees in North Carolina, US.
Designed by in situ studio, the house strikes a line across a sloping, wooded site, mimicking the horizon. The residence is located down a thin winding road, which meanders through the trees to protect the house from view. Placed at the edge of a descent facing the creek, it is designed to let in ample natural light and capture views of the forest. Looking at the pictures, it seems like the forest almost blends with a living space, enabling the residents the close contact with nature. Facing the east end, the bedroom features a huge window that opens a magnificent view to the large red oak tree and a forest floor blanketed with ferns.
