Portuguese architecture practice M2.senos designed an extension to Amélia’s House, a minimal home located in Ilhavo, Portugal.
A personal connection with the home, its neighbourhood and its original architect framed the renovation’s direction. “One more house, another volume, two more rooms. The vertex facing the church cut it – we want to look at her; on the back side of the house a fig tree imposes the limit and invites the pool,” state the architects. The connection between old and new volume is enhanced by both terraces and the use of dark, flat root tiles.
