A solid concrete construction in São Paulo, ‘Tecnomec’ by PAX.ARQ features a car workshop, classes for future car mechanics, and a residential penthouse suite.
“The relationship between the building and the city is compelling.”Resting on a two-hundred-and-sixty-square-metre site, the building consists of three levels. It houses mechanical workshop on the ground level, classes and offices with bathrooms on the first floor, and a two-bedroom residence with terrace for the owner at the top. The concrete slab plays an important role in the building’s construction – not only does it ensure the privacy, but it also shelters the upper floors from noise and pollution coming from the workshop.
The architects describe: “The relationship between the building and the city is compelling, as the composition draws back voluntarily from the terrain’s limits and frees the urban corner in a gentle manner, favoring the materialization of a place for gatherings and urban encounters along its surroundings.”
