Casual and athletic wear brand New York Sunshine took an art-based approach to its latest lookbook, centering the shoot around artist John Margaritis’ ‘One Ton Tank’ sculpture.
The 4000-pound handcrafted sculpture was created from concrete and glass panels, weighing over 7,000 pounds when full of water. Providing a visually arresting object for the model to interact with, as well as the ideal springboard for the collection’s ‘Head Above Water’ title, the sculpture will be on display in New York Sunshine’s flagship store in Southhampton, NY. The brand “started as a side project to make some extra summer cash, hand silk screening shirts and selling them damp and sandy out of the back of a surf van.” Today is is sold across the USA and stocked in Paris and Japan.
