Argentine artist Leandro Erlich suspended a model house above a construction site from a crane in Karlsruhe, Germany.
Entitled ‘Pulled By The Roots’, the house – part of a series of hyperreal sculptures installed across the city throughout summer – features a system of visible roots reminiscent of those of a tree ripped from the ground, in a reminder that “underneath the tons of metal and concrete of our cities, a vital organic presence remains,” according to the artist. “As living beings on an ever-changing planet, we can never be apart from the organic world; the architecture that we create is part and parcel of our environment.”“Underneath the tons of metal and concrete of our cities, a vital organic presence remains.”
