The english translation of “San Shan (三山)” is 3 mountains and describes the form of the bridge with its 3 arches connecting to its hilly backdrop. The bridge will connect the city centre with Zhangjiakou, a city about 100 kilometres north west of Beijing. It will be a gateway between the density of the city and the undulating river valleys in the North of Beijing.
