Chile-based architectural studio GITC designed El Maqui house, located in in the eastern hillside of El Maqui Brook, a rural place of the Coastal Mountain Range of Chile.
The geographical zone is part of a protected natural reserve with high and important ecological value, so the project was designed to restore the local flora and fauna. Therefore the client commissioned a 253m² seasonal house for a family of six with a garden around the house. Steel frames, reinforced concrete and wood are the substantials of the design. A swimming pool and a bio-filter pond rank to the luxurious features of the Casa El Maqui. The bedrooms are located in a suspended pavilion, oriented toward the mountains, while the common areas face the landscaped courtyard.
