Rejecting Beauty Standards

In Paola Kudacki‘s photography series ‘Plasticity‘, American model Leila Goldkuhl is tied up in nylon gourmets, questioning our chase for perfection.
The series, shot for the London-based beauty magazine ‘Beauty Papers, suggest how tight beauty standards are in modern media narration. The model is trying to escape plastic band and nylon gourmets, styled by Akari Endo-Gaut and representing the struggle to find one’s true identity and the definition of beauty. At the same time, the only visible element of make-up in the editorial is the upside-down eye line, a subversive gesture of rejecting the classical beauty.
