Self-taught emerging artist, Cyrus Kabiru creates expressive sculptural eyewear made from found and recycled objects.
Rich in details and materials, Kabiru’s ‘C-Stunners’ are made of things he found on the streets of Nairobi. A confident individual, Kabiru is determined to follow his artistic path with no compromises. His spectacular bifocals are entirely his own invention and are directly linked to his life story. “When I was young, I used to admire real glasses. But my dad was a bit harsh and he never wanted me to have real glasses. That’s the reason why I started making my own glasses. I really love trash, I try to give trash a second chance. I change it to be something else which is like it will stay for more than a hundred years now.” he says.
