Jan Cieślikiewicz is a New York-based photographer born in Poland. He graduated from the General Studies program at International Center of Photography, and holds a degree in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University. Furthermore he was a swimming champion and spent six on Wall Street working as a trader. Cieślikiewicz depicts the inexplicable in his noteworthy picture series ‘Null Hypothesis’ and reaches for something that is immeasurable.
One day, the photographer discovered that there is something that triggers him which lays beyond rational explanations of the world and human existence. „Everything that seems to us as absolute will come to pass“, states the artist. Taking pictures satisfies his longing for the undefined. Cieślikiewicz’s photographs convey contradictions, ambiguity and a mix of various emotions. In an impressive, visually appealing way, he transports messages in his works that raise issues more than they give answers to the viewer.
