Bangkok-based design studio, Onion, was commissioned to renovate a beachside holiday home for a family of six based around the values of freedom and playfulness.
Named the “Jerry House”, in a nod to the US cartoon “Tom and Jerry”, the home was redesigned to encourage all family members to channel their inner child. A combination of nets, ladders, tunnels and mirrors create a fun and free-flowing environment perfect for relaxing and enjoying time together in. The color scheme of the Jerry House’s interior further contributes to the house’s youthful feel, with each living space designated a different tone. “Onion paints the public areas of Jerry House in white,” say the designers. “The bedrooms, on the other hand, are personalised by colors. Mustard yellow is for the master bedroom and light purple for the guests’ bedroom on the second floor. Blue is for the interior of the tunnels and sleeping areas of the two sons.” The overall effect is a delightful, dream-like space made for family bonding and dreaming big.
