Argentinian architecture bureau CCPM Arquitectos designed “PH Lavalleja”, a 89-square meter narrow, light-filled townhouse with white corrugated metal roofs.
Working with and around the existing plot and infrastructure, the architects created a geometric design, creating a series of layered loft floors connected by a white spiral staircase. The ground level houses the kitchen and dining room, whilst the first mezzanine floor comprises of the bedroom and bathroom and the top floor hosts a light-filled living area. Chipboard panels line the floors and some of the walls into which storage and shelving systems are integrated. “PH is the name given to a traditional housing typology in Buenos Aires, characterised by its high density and low rise,” explain the architects. “Set in the last unit of a long plot, PH Lavalleja coexists with the neighbouring free-plan, high-rise residential buildings that surround it.”
