David Gomez Maestre Captures The Beauty Of Sun-Blushed Landscapes

Based in Los Angeles, Spanish photographer and illustrator David Gomez Maestre is best known for his close-up portrait shots, characterized by a colour blocking and illustrated effect, surfacing raw and human emotions to a 2D image. Alongside his commercial projects for clients such as L’officiel, Metal magazine, Marie Claire UK and many others, David has built an online diary where he shows a personal selection of fashion editorials, portraits of friends and his journeys. It is notable that his work is influenced both by his home base and native roots. The images are a sublime and a contemporary melange of the 90s indie fashion and 70s New Hollywood, set at sundown in the Mediterranean environment. Dreamy landscapes blushed tones and soft romantic hues are integrated among sun-filled surroundings and surreal settings, giving a sense of warmth to his body of work. The way Maestre works with composition and framing, the viewer gets closer to the models so that they are almost inside the frame with them.
