Flitting between fashion photography and still life imagery, New York-based multimedia artist Robin Stein produces work that challenges perspectives and perceptions.
Inspired by artists like El Lissitzky and László Moholy-Nagy, Stein manipulates shapes and angles to create skilfully composed visceral shots. Stein began his career exploring the relationship between fine art and geography. Since then, he has shifted over into commercial and editorial fashion photography, developing campaigns for clients such as Glossier, Nordstrom, Vogue and Wallpaper*. Along the way, he has established a distinct style, playing with depth and perspective to create images that resist conventionality. Still life shots of textured blusher that appears to jump out of the page and fashion shoots defined by geometric lines and muted colors are just some of the ways Stein experiments with new spatial aesthetics.
