The Frankfurt-based studio of designer Johannes Fuchs has released ‘Barril’, an elegant daybed that takes its cues from the archetypal plank bed.
The construction of this elegant and clean-lined daybed is simple yet refined: nine planks lay supported by four boards that slot into one another, forming the base of the bed. The rounded edges of the solid ash wood elements lend what the designer calls a “soft touch” to the overall design. The mattress is luxuriously upholstered in a 100% wool fabric by Danish textile designers, Kvadrat, whose Copenhagen showroom we featured previously on IGNANT. The single mattress is attached to the frame by small textile loops. Johannes Fuchs calls ‘Barril’ “the perfect place for a quick midday nap or an overnight guest.”
