The recent work of Ukrainian twin sisters and photographers Zhenya and Tanya Posternak, who work under the professional name Posternaks, is their most abstract and visceral yet; conveying their established aesthetic with a distinct emphasis on color, line, and texture.
Posternaks have an affinity for composition: creating unique imagery that juxtaposes fashion photography with cropped portraits and architectural frames. Since we last featured their work, the pair have expanded their portfolio with a range of editorial commissions, including shooting the first womenswear collection for Milan-based brand Sunnei. In their work, Posternaks visually explore themes such as female empowerment and the sense of touch. There is a synchronicity to their photographs that is mirrored by their harmonious collaborative approach; such is the nature of working with the person you’ve known since birth.
