The most popular designers of the world have been unveiled by the World Design Ranking, which utilizes data from participating creatives in the A’ Design Award and Competition to rank countries globally. The competition is the biggest in the world and the most multifarious design accolade.
The World Design Ranking rates all participating countries based on the number of designers that have been granted with the A’ Design Award. The aim is to continue to promote a dynamic global design culture, through exhibiting and supporting promising and progressive designers. This is achieved through highlighting key data and insights to economists and journalists with regards to the design industry.
The competition encompasses 110 categories, from furniture design, interiors, architecture, jewelry design, and more. This year, China overtook the United States to earn first place, followed by Japan in third place—yet still maintaining their top three position rankings from 2018 and 2019. In a close fourth place was Italy, followed by honorable mentions with Great Britain, Hong Kong, Turkey, Taiwan, Germany, and Australia. Six new countries were included in the rankings, as follows: Macedonia, Maldives, Lao, Swaziland, Kenya, and Armenia.
