We enter the space and then leave, interact with faces that we barely know, and touch objects that are only temporarily ours. If all experiences are transient, how should we process them, and what signifies their meaning?
‘Guest Room’ seeks out the ephemeral relationship between human, space, texture, and shape; by conceptually exploring our experience of physical spaces. The series is a collaboration between stylist Priszcilla Varga, Slovenia photographer Ana Santl, and model Paprika Mahlobo, shot at The Audo in Copenhagen and published exclusively on IGNANT. In ‘Guest Room’, tender portraits depict the visceral, intimate connection between model and place, as well as the paradox of an impermanent experience in a static space. “The connection makes the temporary stay a permanent memory, like a still image cut out of a film, or a face of a stranger we cannot forget,” explains Santl to IGNANT of the concept. Working to a muted color palette of beiges, creams, grays, and browns, the editorial was designed to invite introspection in the viewer, and instill a subtle feeling of romance while pulling us into a distant memory of intimacy.
