Spanish design studio Gramática Arquitectónica has created a series of exquisite centerpieces, exclusively for Michelin-star chef Pepe Solla’s restaurant in Galicia. Named ‘Keep on Rocking’, the decorative objects turn into unusual serving plates—much to the diners’ surprise.
Inspired by Mexican sculptor Mathias Goeritz’s works, the fine object presents a clean and geometric shape that resemble the artist’s large-scale sculptural towers. When pulled apart however, the object creates two playful staircases, one in marble and one in oak wood, with small holes and perforations throughout. The design invention makes a statement at Solla’s fine Galician cooking restaurant Casa Solla in Poio, Spain. The striking centerpiece is not only an object of decor; its design and function are manifold. During dinner, the blocks transform into plates to present and serve small culinary creations, surprising guests and adding a distinct touch to the overall dining experience.
