The promising new restaurant from young Italian chef and owner Marco Carboni is ‘Sartoria’, located in Mexico City’s Roma neighborhood. Local architecture studio Taller ADG has designed the interior to be a contemporary Italian trattoria.
The venue also encompasses a separate cafeteria space titled Buna that is connected via a concrete wall. “Through concrete, the essential elements of each space are solved: it provides a vault for the restaurant, alluding to wine cellars and vaulted taverns in Europe, and a central bar for the cafeteria,” reads a statement from the firm. Interior highlights include a board-marked curved roof, polished concrete floors, built-in wooden furniture, and a black and white marble bar with oak bar stools. “The warm atmosphere of a traditional Italian trattoria joins our vision of a contemporary, dynamic, and cosmopolitan osteria,” explains Carboni. The menu is designed around using seasonable, sustainable products by small and local producers, with an emphasis on fresh handmade pasta.
