The design portfolio of Chinese multidisciplinary firm Studio Glume is stunning, with furniture, objects, and artworks that are wild, playful, and sculptural.
Design is often about being inventive and resourceful, by working to create unexpected value out of found or discarded materials. The work of Studio Glume achieves just this: their sophisticated and boundary-pushing pieces make use of recycled and industrial materials in innovative ways. Their unique pieces, a selection of which features below, use materials like travertine limestone, marble, glass, and bricks, whereby the studio has transformed these raw into exquisite side tables, stools, coffee tables, and benches. Working with a muted, pale color palette, their collection is equal parts art and design, where textural detail and rough-cut forms are reimagined as striking interior pieces. Conceived of through an experimental but intuitive manner, the pieces challenge our perception of materiality with their own individual flair.
