Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico Alexandra Becker-Black has been creating art all of her life. Formally trained in illustration, Alexandra’s relationship with watercolor started with an odd step when she was forced to choose a new medium after developing an allergic reaction to oil paints.
Within weeks of first painting watercolors Alexandra found her medium and her new voice. Check out her paintings here.
She states: “Watercolor is an investment. There is no undoing what has already been done. You can’t add another layer or cover things up once they’re on the paper. Every mark must be a deliberate decision. It’s watery metaphor for life. And, it’s a living thing on its own – it needs room to move and flow and spread out. I’m just there taming it and guiding it to flow where I need.”
