City Of Gold By Kristin-Lee Moolman

Johannesburg based photographer and filmmaker Kristin-Lee Moolman captures different models with their characteristic “off-kilter glossy” style in a once-glistening mining town.
Styled by Gabrielle Kannemeyer, the models are photocopied in a place where urban, suburban and barren landscapes mesh into one another, which creates an endless, organised chaos. The artist explores the idea of producing a fictional mythology or place, based on the synthesis of her political, personal and visual experiences in contemporary South Africa. She has worked among others for publications including Dazed and L’Officiel Hommes.
