During World War II the Japanese military unit, Unit731, conducted extreme experiments on live humans – naming the subjects ‘Maruta’ (Log in Japanese).
Yeona Kim, artist from Baltimore, MD, looks into the uncommon subject and forges a log series of the human specimens. The oil-painted aluminum cast limbs and corps are sunk in water in acrylic boxes and glass jars.
