‘Art of Living’ By Gray Malin

In “Art of Living“, fine-art photographer brings the mid-century design classic to the heavenly setting of a pacific island Bora Bora. The pieces from such prolific designers as Eames, Saarinen and Knoll float atop the mirrored platform handcrafted by local engineers. By setting a selection of archetypal modern furniture against the pristine landscape of French Polynesia, Malin disrupts the conventions through which we traditionally experience design. Speaking about his project, the photographer says: “To accentuate the form of the furniture, this series was photographed from a vantage point where Mount Otemanu presented a symmetrical backdrop. Staging highly stylized elements of interior design in an unexpected setting, this series juxtaposes natural and man-made beauty and challenges the viewer to interpret the art of design anew.”
