Set amid peaceful mountains and rice fields, the Tilt Roof House offers a sophisticated and intimate living for a small community of artists.
Designed by Seoul-based architecture practice BCHO, the house is situated just an hour east of South Korea’s capital. A part of community master plan, the brief was offered by the clients and their friends in Sukokri neighborhood. “Sharing common passions for travel, nature and design, they decided to create a small artist community where they could go hiking and do outdoor activities together,” the architects describe their clients. A reinforced concrete structure, it shows the architects’ understanding of ‘Ki’, the traditional term for the universal energy that permeates everything. That said, the architects tried to honor the natural energy flow of the nearby mountains.
