Lovers of design shouldn’t have to compromise on aesthetics when it comes to integrating electronic appliances into their everyday lives and homes. That’s the idea that pioneering electronics manufacturer, Samsung, followed when they teamed up with the renowned industrial and product design duo, Erwan and Ronan Bouroullec, to create the Serif TV: A refined, aesthetically inspiring television designed to fit seamlessly into the home, whether on the floor, a shelf or its elegant and easily removable legs. Working together with Samsung engineers throughout the design process, the Bouroullecs closely followed the principles of essentialism. “What we wanted – or what we tried to do – was to make one object without too many details – concise enough, condensed enough.” explained Erwan Bouroullec in an exclusive interview. The result? A charming design item that is equal parts furniture piece and technological innovation.
