The Metropol Parasol by architectural studio Jürgen Mayer H. covers the Plaza de la Encarnación in Seville since 2011. The aim was to built an identity-establishing construction that would combine modern architectural structures with traditional Gothic building forms.
+ Read MoreToday the Metropol Parasol is a widely accepted meeting point and due to demonstrations against economic reforms also a landmark for civic and political awareness. It contains a museum, a market hall, bars, and cafes, providing necessary shade for the people strolling beneath it. People also have the possibility to enjoy the panoramic view from the top of the bulding.
This project is part of the exhibition Culture:City, that is asking questions about the impact of art and culture on cities and their architecture. Running from 15th of March – 26th of May 2013 at Hanseatenweg 10, 10557 Berlin.
