The paintings Ian Davis has been working on for the last few years all fit together into one body of work. Formally, they rely on an intricate network of patterns. Almost every element in each work is based on systems of repetition to create a hypnotic effect. Ian is interested in the imperfection of the human hand and its inability to do the exact same thing twice.
+ Read MoreIan begins with a vague idea, all the elements of a narrative but no storyline. Usually he starts with one specific element of a completed painting- a location, an action.
