‘Figure Painting’ is a series of oil paintings of the toys from Joe’s childhood. The collection is a love letter to the action figures of the 1970s, 80s & 90s. Joe chose to depict the toys with a natural canvas/linen weave background, to give the figures a time-less quality. All paintings Oil on Linen. “These toys evoke so many memories for me, it puts me right back into my bedroom as an 8 year old, using my bedroom as various intergalactic bases or secret hideouts. I’ve tried to paint these figures to provoke memories in people, so that you can almost remember the touch of them, even the taste.”
